About Us

THE VECTOR STORY

Vector Wrestling Camps (formerly known as Timpanogos Wrestling Camp) was founded in 2015 by Utah natives Ben Ferry and Alex Nicholes. It has been our vision to grow the sport of wrestling by creating camps that feature the best wrestlers in the world as clinicians in order to provide youth wrestlers with the opportunity to train alongside their heroes and learn from the best in our sport. As of summer 2017, Vector Wrestling Camps 1) operate in both Utah and California, 2) have attracted wrestlers from 15 different states, and 3) attract upwards of 300 wrestlers per camp.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Ben Ferry currently works as a full-time analyst at Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Previous to this, he gained experience through a variety of different internships while attending Brigham Young University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Management (with a focus in Strategy). Ben coached wrestling for four years, three of which he spent as the assistant head coach at Timpanogos High School in Orem, UT. Ben wrestled at Box Elder High School in Brigham City, UT where he started in 8th grade but developed quickly to become a 2x 4A state placer. At Vector, Ben is responsible for all back end logistical operations which cover areas such as featured clinicians, camp structure, facilities, etc.

Alex Nicholes is the head wrestling coach at Timpanogos High School in Orem, UT, where he also teaches guided studies and weight lifting. As head coach, Alex has rebuilt the Timpanogos program, taking the team from last place in the 4A classification (previous to his arrival in 2014) to a top ten finish in just three years. The 2017 season also included two state finalists. Previous to Timpanogos, Alex served as an assistant at Mountain View High School in Orem, UT, for two years. Alex wrestled at Pleasant Grove High School in Lindon, UT where he won a 5A state title at 152 pounds. At Vector, Alex is responsible for all front end athlete-facing operations which cover areas such as marketing, customer service, apparel, etc.
